"Delivery of Volatile Material"

Organic molecules, used by living organisms, occur in meteorites that collide with Earth. It is therefore logical to think that these molecules might have played a role in the evolution of life. However, they could only play such a role if they were released from those meteorites. We will use computer simulations to calculate how much material from meteorites ends up on the surfaces of young planets. Subsequently, we will perform experiments to discover whether these molecules can be released from meteorites at all. With this research, we will answer the question as to whether these organic molecules from meteorites could indeed have played a role in the evolution of life. ( Credits)
